Tiger Cave Temple

Today we spent most of the day bumming around the hostel. I went for a wander by myself this morning to suss out what's what and then returned to the hostel. We didn't really do much as we were saving our energy for the afternoon.

At 16:20 we went down to the reception with a girl in our room called Esme to go on a trip to Tiger Cave Temple, also known as Wat Thum Sua, with our hostel. Despite the name there were no tigers there, only monkeys who were a lot calmer than any others we've seen.

Tiger Cave Temple is on top of a massive hill. We had to climb 1260 steps to reach it. It was torture. We managed it, just, and made it to the top absolutely dripping in sweat. Thankfully everyone else was just as dripping. But the views from the top were so worth the climb. It was beautiful and my pictures don't do it any kind of justice at all.
We sat and watched the sun set over the limestone mounts before us before starting out descent. The descent was no where near as hellish as the but was just as sweaty. By the time I reached the bottom my legs were jelly.  It was dark on the way down as extra concentration was required and some of the steps were so steep that they could have realistically  been two steps. But we all made it up and down and were quite proud of ourselves.

We returned to the hostel and took much needed showers before heading out. We'd had decided to have a celebratory pizza from The Pizza Company as we felt we had earnt it and we were all so looking forward to it. But when we got there at half 8, we were told first that it was takeaway only and then that they only had thin crust pizza which we didn't want so instead we went to a little restaurant just round the corner. Esme had a panang curry, I had a Maasaman curry which was quite spicy but very tasty, and Lauren had chicken nuggets and chips. Then we headed back to the hostel and collapsed onto our beds. I have a feeling our legs will be quite sore tomorrow.....
