The 4 Islands trip

This morning we got up around 7:30am. We were due to be picked up at 8am for a day trip. The truck actually arrived before the specified time which is probably the first time in the history of south East Asia. The truck that picked us up was basically two long benches in the back of a pick up truck. The truck took us to the travel companies base where we were grouped up according to boat type and destination. We were going on the 4 island trip by longtail boat.

Our first stop was at Phranang beach and cave. The cave is a sacred cave for fertility and was decorated as such.  We had a quick look at the cave, paddled about in the sea and then it was back to the boat and on to the next stop.

Our next stop is known as Chicken Island. I don't actually know it's real name but it was christened Chicken Island due to a rock formation making it look like the island has a chicken head. We pulled up along side but we didn't actually go on the island. We took some photos and them moved into a spot for snorkeling and swimming. There was some little jellyfish and I came out of the water with an irritation/painful area on my leg. Whether it was actually caused by a jellyfish I don't know. The snorkeling was OK but not the best we've done.

Our third stop was an at island called Tup Island.  It was absolutely beautiful. It was like two tree covered rocky mounts with a spit of sand between, part of which was covered during high tide. We had lunch,  which was (very) spicy beef and rice, and then took some photos and floated about in the water. It was lovely. There also wasn't too many people which was nice.

Our last stop was Koh Poda, which I don't seem to have any pictures of. There were a lot more people here but the island itself was also much larger. As we arrived we saw two huge jellyfish. They were the biggest jellyfish I'd ever seen. It made me a bit cautious about going in the water but we did anyway whilst keeping an eye out. It was another beautiful island. We had a short swim and then sat on a swing on the beach. Then it was time to return to Krabi.

We got back to the hotel just after 3, showered and just spent the rest of the day at the hostel. We had the hostels free chicken skewers for dinner before returning to the room to relax.
