Koh Nang Yuan

Today we had a lie in and spent most of the morning trying to work out whether it was feasible to visit one of the viewpoints on the island. Eventually we decided not to and to go to the beach instead. When we got to main beach we decided to get a boat over to a little island called Koh Nang Yuan that was just off the coast of the main island. It took about 15 minutes to get there and it was definitely worth it.

The beach was like a strip of sand between two rocky tree covered hills. We weren't allowed bottles or cans on the island and we weren't allowed to put towels on the sand to preserve the amount of sand on the island. We put our towels out on a huge rock and went straight into the sea. We probably arrived on the island around 12/half 12 and we spent about 2 hours in the sea. We sunbathe for a while and then around 4pm  we decided to go up to the viewpoint on the island. It was a really short distance but we were very sweaty when we got to the top. We also got attacked by a swarm of mosquitoes while we were stopped to allow some others to pass. We could see multiple mosquitoes on our skin and we were frantically trying to bat them off. We weren't very successful and when we were actually at the top looking at the view we were scratching like crazy. The view was beautiful though. We took photos and then hastily made it back down to avoid the mosquitoes. Then we went back to the little pier to get the boat back.

We got back to the mainland, went back to the hostel and showered. Then we went out for dinner with a dude in our room and his German friend from another hostel. I had a panang curry which was nice, the two guys had green curries and Lauren had chicken wings. Then we went to a bar for a drink.
Around 9:15pm we went back to the hostel to continue drinking there (me and Lauren had water) but just as we arrived the power went out.  We heard that it was a whole section of the town but we didn't venture out to see. So instead the 4 of us sat in the dark in the room just chatting, along with one of the two Canadian girls in our room. It came back on after about a half hour and we just chilled in the room with the others.
