Krabi to Koh Phanghan

Today we finally said goodbye to Krabi and left for our next destination. We were picked up from the hostel around 11:15 and driven to a bus station which was basically some wooden shacks along a dirt road. We were due to get a bus at half 12, but to our surprise and for probably the first time ever in Thai history it was fifteen minutes early leaving. It was a double decker coach and we were sitting at the front on the top deck, with a good view out the windscreen and plenty of leg room. They were probably the best seats on the bus if you ignore the lack of seat belt and the huge crack in the windscreen.

We arrived at the pier on the other side of the country around 3. I had some pad Thai and a drink that was on sale. Then around 4 we went to boat. It was supposed to leave at 4 but it was waiting for two buses that hadn't yet arrive so it was after 5 by the time it eventually did. As we approached Koh Samui,  the first stop, we got to see an absolutely stunning sunset. My photos that I took on my phone don't show how red the sky looked once the sun had gone and they're a bit blurry but you can see the amazing colours as it set.

We eventually arrived at Koh Phanghan at
19:45ish. We got into a taxi which was two benches in a pickup truck with 11 of us crammed in, shoulder to shoulder, sticky skin to sticky skin. We were dropped off near our hostel and checked in around 8:30. We were delighted to find we had a ten bed room to ourselves for the night as we had had very noisy and uncorteuous roommates the last two nights. We were told that people would be checking in tomorrow however. We dumped our bags and went out for chicken satay at the restaurant across the road before coming back and relaxing.
