Today we went on another day trip to some islands. We were picked up after 8 and driven out to the same boat place as before. We were on a longtail boat with 11 others with a different tour company to the previous trip. We set off sometime after 9 and after about twenty minutes we pulled up next to an island, which I didn't catch the name of, for some snorkeling. We spent half an hour there. It was pretty standard with no awesome fish, just the same ones that are everywhere.
Once we were back on the boat we sailed for 45 minutes to the next island, Koh Lao La Ding. On the way it started chucking it down but thankfully it had stopped by the time we got there and the sun was out. We spent along time on this island. We stopped in a beautiful cove along with several other boats which made for a nice photo. There wasn't that many people despite the boats. We paddled about in the water for a bit where we could see lots of fish without putting out heads under. Then we had lunch, which was Pad Thai and chicken and rice. It was really nice. We messed about on a swing on the beach, took lots of photos and went in to sea some more until it was time to leave.
The next island we went to was Hong Island, the main stop on the trip. First we floated into the lagoon but we were told we couldn't stop here as the water was too shallow. We just floated in, took some photos and left. We were dropped off on Hong Island beach and were told we had an hour and a half. It was a nice beach. It looked like two little adjoined coves and there was lots of people swimming and sunbathing. It was sunny when we arrived but it soon changed. We could hear distant rumbles of thunder. We were told it was good for snorkeling but when we got in the water we couldn't see a thing as the water just wasn't clear enough. We hung out on the beach and floated around the water. Then it started raining. We sheltered under the trees for about 20 minutes until it was time to leave.
It took about an hour to get back to the mainland, arriving just after half 3. We were dropped off at the hostel around half 4 and made it back just in time as it started raining again. We went straight to the showers and then once we were clean we ran to the shops in the rain wearing our pyjamas. We spent the rest of the evening relaxing.
