Kangaroos and panoramic views

So this morning we had a bit of a lie in as we didn't have to shoot off. We were told that the hostel did free pancakes on Sunday mornings and we were very excited for this. However when we went to breakfast there was not a single pancake to be found. It was not a good way to start the day.

At 10am we headed out to get the train and bus to Featherdale wildlife park. It took around an hour and a half but it was a fairly straightforward journey. I think we had quite high expectations as we had been promised kangaroo and koala selfies and that we would be allowed to touch and interact with the animals. And we did get to do that a little bit but not as much as expected. We did get some good photos and we did touch the animals but we were only allowed one photo with the koala and you could only touch him for about 2 seconds while the photo was taken. Also the kangaroos/wallabies were a lot small than expected. There was one huge one but it was far away resting in the shade and we weren't allowed to interact with it. Despite all that, it was quite nice and we did get some good photos.

Apparently koalas sleep for 22 hours a day. Lauren and I were discussing whether or not that would be good. Lauren was saying it would be great but I was saying that you'd never get to see anyone or do anything because you just wouldn't have time.

It's very very hot today. Walking around the wildlife park was quite uncomfortable. And we both have very achy legs from yesterday. Well only one of my legs hurts but it hurts a lot.  My calf is not my friend.
By the way I'm not sure if I mentioned before that the actual reason for having a kangaroo and an emu on the Australian coat of arms is that neither animal can move backwards, and Australian people are always moving forward and looking for ways to improve. Or at least that's what they want us to think.

After we finished at the wildlife park we ran for the bus and made it just in time and hopped on a train back about 5 minutes later. It worked out pretty well time wise.
We got off at Central station and had some food in a near by cafe. Then we went back to the hostel, dolled ourselves up a tad and headed out to Sydney Tower for expensive drinks and panoramic views of the city (we hoped). There was a $20 minimum spend so it was a bit expensive but the views were meant to be amazing.

---

The drinks were very expensive and the views were amazing. We spent the minimum each and went round full circle twice (it was a revolving bar). Sydney Tower also did a buffet of Chinese, Thai, Italian and Australian food, but at $65 a head we thought we'd give this a miss. The bar was very posh and the toilets had really fancy sinks and although it was expensive, it was worth it. As is often the case however,  the pictures don't do it justice. If you look closely in the last one you can see the lights of the Sydney Harbour bridge.
After we'd finished our drinks we came back and continued planning our trip, as I fell asleep in the middle of our attempt last night.

It feels like we've been away from ages. I can't believe we've only been on Sydney 4 days. We've packed so much in and done so much walking. Tomorrow we are going to Bondi beach and I'm sure the rest will be much appreciated.
