It's almost 6am Abu Dhabi time. Our flights at 9:10. We've succeeded so far in staying awake. My eyes hurt and I'm ready for sleep. Hopefully as soon as we get on the plane we can just crash. 13 hours of uninterrupted sleep would be nice but not sure how that will happen. We're about to go in search of breakfast. I'm starving.

We had breakfast and went and sat at our gate. Whilst there, we noticed a Virgin Australia plane at the next gate. Since we booked with Virgin, we briefly wondered if it was ours, despite it not being at the gate we thought we were at. I went to check the board and discovered that despite booking with Virgin to fly to Sydney and being routed via Melbourne, there was a direct flight to Sydney from Abu Dhabi, at the next gate, leaving ten minutes after our flight to Melbourne. To make matters worse, our plane has been delayed by almost an hour and we may end up missing our connecting flight to Sydney. AND to top it off, the dude next to me smells, the dude behind is snoring his head off and the plane is less fancy and more cramped than the previous flight. There is one positive in that we have been given eye masks and ear plugs this time. But Lauren tried the earplugs and they did nothing to stem the sound of snoring coming from behind. To be honest I'm hoping that I'm so tired I just pass out despite the noise. But we will see.

By the time the plane left, it had been delayed almost two hours. We are now estimated to arrive at 6:40am. Our flight is at 7am. And we were told at Heathrow we would have to go through customs at Melbourne so the chance of making our plane is very unlikely but we will just have to see what happens when we get there. Hopefully our luggage won't go without us. The chances of our luggage getting off this flight and onto another in 20 mins is slim. But the reason this plane was delayed two hours was because they were waiting for connecting flight luggage so who knows?
We've had food, lunch I guess - chicken again, this time in paprika sauce with mash. The man is still snoring but I've managed to get a little sleep, mainly because I was just so tired. I really can't get comfortable. Might watch some TV and then try to sleep again. Still have 8 hours to go!

There's an hour and 45 minutes left. I've had some sleep but no where near as much as I would have liked and we've given up all hope of catching the Sydney plane so not really sure what we're gunna do as we have no idea how we'll get to Sydney now. We're just gunna find someone at the airport who can tell us what to do. Lauren is fast asleep. She has the wall to lean on which probably helps with the comfortableness.
I can't wait to just have a shower. My hair feels horrible. Hopefully the hostel showers will be OK but I made the mistake of reading the newest reviews on the hostelworld website and now I'm dreading it. We are staying at a hostel called the Funk House. It's for 18-35 year olds with foreign passports so it should be people like us do hopefully we will find some nice people to chat to!
I think they are about to serve breakfast. It doesn't sound nice on the menu; vanilla bread with mixed berry compote.

We didn't have breakfast. We didn't make the 7:00am flight. But by some miracle, the 7am flight had been rescheduled for half 8 anyway. We got off the plane, got our bags, went through customs, checked in for the next flight, went through security, went to our gate and got on the plane almost without stopping.
This plane seems tiny compared to the other two we were on. There is only two seats on each side of the aisle and only 25 rows. We were in row 70 on the plane from Heathrow and were only half way down, over the wing.
This journeys only an hour and 3 minutes which I am very grateful for. I haven't been outside in ages. All the planes have been boarded by the tunnel things and I'm getting fed up of the air conditioned air. Fresh natural air when we get to Sydney will be perfect.

We've just landed in Sydney. It's raining.
Rain = hair wash? Hope you find the hostel before you keel over
