Ok so I admit, the name is not entirely accurate, but technically, everywhere I'm visiting is to the east of the UK on a standard map. And I needed a name to follow on from my previous blog, which if you missed, you will be delighted to hear you can read every single post still, and look at the random pictures and awful selfies, by following this link; www.elenas-encounters.blogspot.co.uk
So this blog is for anyone who wants to read about my impending trip to Australia, New Zealand, and South East Asia, and also for my mum to hopefully provide her with some comfort, knowing I haven't died, or ended up in hospital having been bitten by a malaria containing mosquito or kicked by a kangaroo (*touch wood*).
Sydney is my first destination. I'm heading out an a very long journey, including a 8 hour stop over in Abu Dhabi, at 2pm on the 3rd of January and landing in Sydney on the morning of the 5th. We are flying via Melbourne too, because despite it being exactly the same planes, its cheaper to fly on to Sydney than to end in Melbourne, so we are going up the coast to Cairns before flying back down to Melbourne. It seemed like a good idea at the time....
We, by the way, is myself and my friend Lauren. She may write her own blog if you want to read that. I will post the link at some point so you can read her side of the story after we end up arguing, due to sunstroke and spending too much time together, about where to go for dinner. But that's all part of the experience. I think.
So far I've managed to pack my tops and bottoms, and I have huge pile of toiletries on my bed ready for packing. There's pills and lotions and soaps and suncream strewn all over the place. How are you supposed to pack for every situation you may encounter in 6 months?!
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this blog and hopefully there will be some nice pictures and less awful selfies. I have different hair now and a selfie stick so they should be much improved. 😊
